Developing the Logo

Brainstorm

The first step in developing an identity for Boise Beef Jerky was to create numerous rough sketches that mesh the ideas between the letter “B” and a set of bull horns. The visuals to the left are the narrowed-down list of illustrations I decided to consider for the next step.

 

Logomark

The logomark was inspired by crafting a fusion of the letter “B” and the characteristics of a bull. As a result, some adjustments were made compared to the original sketch, adding more curves to the lines and creating a more tribal look.

Logotype

To accompany the logomark, I created a font to make a harmonious full lockup of the pairing. Boise is the focal point, bold & dark blue, and beef jerky, the product, is in a lighter tone of blue.

 

Developing the Stationery Items

Assets included in the stationery are an envelope, business cards, and letterhead. In the business card design, I created a polygon pattern with overlaying colors to represent the mountains and landscape of Idaho. Those same elements are included in the footer of the letterhead template. On the back of the business cards, I enlarged the horns of the logo to create a dynamic effect accompanying the minimal design.

Brand Packaging
