Mobile App UX/UI

Overview

Camp Agave is a Tequila and Mezcal Festival in Calabasas, California, at Malibu Creek State Park, held twice a year, on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) and September 16 (Mexico's Independence Day). Camp Agave aims to host attendees locally and those traveling out of state. The festival was created to share a unique experience for Tequila enthusiasts looking for a day of adult fun, consisting of voluntary group activities, games, and courses to further your knowledge of the origin of tequila and how it's made.

My role in this project is to develop a UX strategy by creating personas, wayfinding signage, a brand identity, and a mobile app.

Developing an Identity

Brainstorm

The first step in developing an identity for Camp Agave was to create numerous rough sketches that mesh the ideas between agave plants, alcohol, camping, and a carnival. The visuals to the left are the narrowed-down list of illustrations I decided to consider for step two.

Refined Sketch

In step two, I chose the strongest illustration that created a harmonious fusion for the potential logo mark. The sketch was then refined. The agave plant and wood logs created a campfire-like composition.

Final Logomark

In step three, the refined sketch was drawn in Adobe Illustrator, creating a vector of the final logomark. Finally, a color palette was formulated to represent tones remnant of the outdoors (i.e., the sky, land, trees, and the sun.)

Creating Wireframes

The first step in developing the Camp Agave application user interface design (UI) was to create low-fidelity wireframes to share with the client, ensuring key components will be in their respective places before building a prototype. The goal of making the app is to provide a place for festival attendees to keep track of their ticket purchases, events, and upcoming dates. Next, the app's prototype was created through iteration, showing the client a realistic view of user flows, color palettes, and the overall aesthetic of the new UI.
